From Thimphu, the tour winds through scenic mountain roads to Phobjikha, a serene glacial valley renowned for its rare black-necked cranes and sweeping landscapes. Continue to Bumthang, Bhutan’s spiritual heartland, filled with ancient monasteries, sacred temples, and vibrant traditions. The ride offers a perfect blend of challenging terrain and awe-inspiring views, making every mile as rewarding as the destinations themselves. ITINERARY
Day 1
30 miles
We arrive at Paro International Airport, where we'll receive a warm welcome before a scenic drive to Thimphu, passing villages and visiting Tachogang Lhakhang. In Thimphu, explore the Buddha Dordenma and settle in for an overnight stay at 2400m.
Day 2
Today we travel to Phobjikha through Wangdue's old town, the Black Mountains, and Pelela Pass. Highlights include Dochula Pass with stunning Himalayan views and a visit to Gangtey Gompa monastery, ending with a traditional Bhutanese dinner at a local farmhouse.
Day 3
100 miles
Today we journey to Bumthang along a scenic new road, passing dense forests and snow-capped peaks. Highlights include Pelela Pass with its fluttering prayer flags, Chendebji Chorten, Yotongla Pass’s mystical mist, and a visit to Jakar Dzong, the "Castle of the White Bird."
Day 4
79 miles
Today we explore Bumthang, Bhutan’s spiritual heart, home to ancient temples and its famous naked dance festival. We visit Kenchosum Lhakhang, Kharchu Dratsang Monastery, and Tamshing Lhakhang to uncover the district's rich history, spiritual heritage, and artistic treasures.
Day 5
90 miles
We visit Burning Lake, Bhutan’s most sacred and wish-fulfilling site, before exploring Ura Valley, a historic village at 3,100m, known for its semi-nomadic lifestyle. Continue through Thrumshingla National Park, we head to Trongsa to tour the majestic Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong.
Day 6
114 miles
Heading south through Zhemgang district, we have the option to visit the district’s castle. As we descend into the lowlandsBhutan, home primarily to people of Nepali origin. Here we explore a newly built Hindu temple before arriving in Gelephu for a relaxing stay in a comfortable hotel.
Day 7
120 miles
Today we embark on a scenic journey along the Indian border ascending through lush jungles towards Damphu town. From here we continue to Wangdue Phodrang bridge, the gateway to Punakha Dzong, and explore the Punakha Suspension Bridge, offering stunning views.
Day 8
110 miles
Leaving Punakha Valley we retrace our steps to Thimphu, passing Dochula Pass and Chuzom to Haa. we visit the Dzongdrakha temples in Paro, before ascending Chelela Pass for stunning views of Mt. Jomolhari. To finish we visit Haa Valley.
Day 9
48 miles
After exploring Haa Valley, we return to Paro for the iconic hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, perched 900 meters above the valley. This challenging trek offers stunning views and a spiritual experience, concluding with an overnight stay in Paro.
Day 10
Today we say our goodbyes to Paro and jump on our transfer to Paro International Airport and your eventual onward journeys upon landing back in the UK.
